At auctions or private sales, rare coins can fetch high prices. However, it's important to remember that owning a single coin is not likely to make you a millionaire overnight. 

With only 15 known examples, the 1804 Silver Dollar, which is known as the "King of American Coins," is very rare. One sold for more than $3 million in 2013. 

1. 1804 Silver Dollar

There are only five known examples of this coin. In 2010, one sold for more than $4 million. 

2. 1913 Liberty Head Nickel

This coin is very rare because it was made but never released because of the Gold Reserve Act. In 2002, one went for more than $7 million. 

3. 1933: The Double Eagle  

Collectors really want this one because it's the first dollar coin the US Mint made. One sold for more than $10 million in 2013. 

4. 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar

This coin is very rare; only five are known to exist. In 2018, one sold for more than $4.4 million. 

5. 1913 Liberty Head V Nickel 

This experimental coin, which was one of the first ones the U.S. Mint made, is very hard to find. One sold for more than $2.5 million in 2015. 

6. 1792 Birch Cent

This coin is thought to be one of the rarest and most valuable dimes because only 24 were made. One sold for more than $1.8 million in 2007. 

7. 1894-S Barber Dime

This coin is very valuable because very few are known to exist. One sold for more than $1.8 million in 2014. 

8. 1870-S Three Dollar Gold Piece

This eagle coin is another very rare piece from the famous 1804 series. One sold for more than $2.5 million in 2020. 

9. 1804 Capped Bust Eagle

This coin is very rare because of its unusual shape and historical value. It was made to honour the Panama-Pacific Exposition. One sold for more than $2.5 million in 2005.
